A kind of hot stamping material with metal aluminium directly calendered into a thin sheet, its hot stamping effect is similar to that of pure silver foil hot stamping, so it is also called fake silver foil. Due to the soft texture and good ductility of aluminium, with silver-white luster, if the calendered sheet, with sodium silicate and other substances mounted on offset paper made of aluminium foil sheet, can also be printed. However, aluminium foil itself is easy to oxidize and darken, rubbing, touching, etc. will lose colour, so it is not suitable for long term preservation of book covers and other hot stamping.

Aluminium foil, because of its excellent characteristics, is widely used in food, beverages, cigarettes, medicines, photographic substrates, household goods, etc., and is usually used as a packaging material; electrolytic capacitor material; insulating material for buildings, vehicles, ships, houses, etc.; and can also be used as decorative gold and silver wire, wallpaper, as well as various types of stationery prints and decorative trademarks for light industrial products. Among the above applications, aluminium foil can be most effectively used as a packaging material. Aluminium foil is a soft metal film, which not only has the advantages of moisture-proof, airtight, light-shielding, abrasion-resistant and corrosion-resistant, aroma-preserving, non-toxic and odourless, etc., but also because of its elegant silver-white luster, it is easy to process beautiful patterns and designs in various colours and is thus more likely to be favoured by people.
